It’s been reported that just a third of British adults are happy with their sex lives, meaning 67% of the UK has been left high and dry in the bedroom.
In 2017, a YouGov study of 5,000 adults found that only 34% were satisfied with their sex life. It went on to reveal that one in five (19%) suffered from a low libido, while almost a quarter (24%) experienced sexual problems such as erectile dysfunction.
There are many things that can have an adverse affect on sexual activity, such as a slump in energy, a loss of confidence or the general stresses of everyday life.
However, instead of tackling each of these problems individually, there is one way of treating them collectively, whilst improving your sex life in the process: exercise.

Improves Performance, Frequency and Satisfaction
Who’s genuinely honest enough to admit that they’re not all that between the sheets? Discussing one’s sexual performance, especially negatively, is rare.
Fitness helps improve your performance in any physical activity and that includes sex, of course.
A study by the University of California found that middle-aged men who followed a steady exercise regimen experienced vast improvements in their sex lives. While a report from the University of British Columbia revealed that regular exercise increased sexual arousal in women.
So when your workouts begin to pay off, you won’t have to tell everyone about how wonderful you are in the sack. Your neighbors will be able to do that for you.
Increases Strength, Stamina and Flexibility
Unless you’re a professional gymnast or a trained contortionist, the reverse piggyback, crouching cowgirl or standing splits will seem far too ambitious without fear of injury or worse, embarrassment.
Regular exercise builds muscle, increases energy and makes us more limber, allowing us an opportunity to introduce new and unusual positions to the table – or wall, or chandelier.
Receiving a copy of the Kama Sutra for Christmas will no longer be seen as an amusing gift. You’ll be in a position (please excuse the pun) to take on any page. It’s probably wise to ask for the sex swing next year though.
Boosts Body Confidence and Self-Esteem
Feeling sexier is a sure fire way to up your game between the sheets. If you feel great about how you look, then naturally you’ll feel far more confident around other people, including your partner.
Exercising regularly works wonders for self-esteem. When we’re pleased with how our body looks, we’re far more inclined to get naked and show it off.
When you’re next at the gym and see somebody admiring their reflection or taking a selfie, odds are they’re getting some action later.
Reduces Stress (aka The Passion Killer)
Medical professionals will suggest a variety of natural remedies to help reduce stress levels such as sleeping, healthy eating or socializing with friends. However exercise offers one way of killing two birds with one stone, cutting stress while sprucing up your sex life too.
Working out produces feel-good endorphins and lowers cortisol levels, helping to combat depression and raise sex drive.
It’s no coincidence that stressed backwards spells desserts. Time to skip desserts and satisfy your cravings in the bedroom.
